The author wanted to identify critical issues on gender, which would help to inform development organizations and would be helpful to devise program strategies. The methodology used was to review existing information and literature as well as carry out interviews with a number of women and men from urban and rural areas, representing different needs and interests, as well as those working at different levels from grassroots to policy and national level.
