Description:

L'Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD) is a French development organization operating in the field of international solidarity. It has been present in Lebanon since 1989. Today, IECD and its local partners implement several programme for professional integration support, access to education, support to small enterprises and health care projects.

Over the last ten years, IECD in partnership with Foyer de la Providence have developed the specialized school Mosaik and its Center of Resources and Orientation Trait d'Union. Together they are working to allow students with learning disabilities to receive an adapted education and to train the teachers of “regular” schools to inclusion methods.   

To extend the benefits of those activities, IECD and the Foyer de la Providence are launching a three year capacity building program towards 15 institutions welcoming Palestinians youth. The main objective is to increase adoption of an inclusive approach in the formal and non-formal education sector in order to decrease dropout rates and allow children with learning disabilities to enroll in “regular” classes.

In parallel, this project aims to raise awareness on inclusion among health services, educators and families together with the creation of a referral system to improve the provision of diagnosis and care for CwD.

MISSION
Under the direct supervision of the project manager, the coordinator will be in charge of the coordination of the training programme, follow up in schools and awareness sessions with families. He/she will be responsible for managing the social worker as well as the specialists mobilized for activities with the partners and families.

Key responsabilites:
  • Overall coordination of the training sessions and the follow up visits in the school.
  • Implement individual visits to medical and social care providers (health centers, pharmacies, hospitals and private doctors) in order to inform and train them on the importance of early diagnosis and guidance of children with special needs
  • Set up a referral system to improve the provision of diagnosis and care for children with special needs
  • The first step will be the creation of a mapping of the available services in the Mount Lebanon and Saida regions in order to disseminate accurate information to all medical and social care providers, as well as educational institutions.
  • Monitor activities related to the partners and the management of the specialists and educators that will be involved in one or several activities with the schools (participation in the monthly trainings, follow up visits, animation of sessions).


Regarding the partners, this activity will mainly consist in gathering and updating the following information:

  • Basic information about each partner institution (contact of director/ referent/ educators involved in training programme; number of classes/ children/ number of detected cases of learning disabilities/ type of facilities etc.)
  • Updated information on activities implemented with each partner and problems encountered (parents’ groups, follow-up visits, needs assessment, etc.)
  • Qualitative information on the effective application of inclusive learning methods in class (baseline situation and evolution according to reports from referents)
Key competencies:
  • Education: Graduate in project management, in education or any related field with at least two years of experience
  • Experience: previous working experience in the refugees’ camps and good knowledge of the Lebanese formal and non-formal educational system
  • Interests: interested in youth with learning disabilities and refugees issues
  • Good coordination and organization skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to enter the Palestinian camps
  • Good team player
  • Autonomous, driving license mandatory
  • Arabic and fluency in English and/or French
Contract terms:

Status: 3 years contract, with a 3 month probation period
Under the supervision of: Head of Project
Package: To be defined according to profile and experience
