ABAAD is a non-profit, non-politically affiliated, non-religious civil association that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD seeks to promote women's equality and participation through policy development, legal reform, and gender mainstreaming, engaging men, eliminating discrimination, and advancing and empowering women to participate effectively and fully in their communities. ABAAD also seeks to support and collaborate with civil society organizations that are involved in gender equality programs and advocacy campaigns.

JOB PURPOSE
Over the 2nd half of 2012, ABAAD started a new program focusing  on enhancing and improving quality of response services to Syrian refugees women & girls survivors of GBV through provision of psycho-social, medical & legal protection services and empowerment,  community education & outreach, capacity development to local actors, transitional Mid-way housing, policy dialogue with local stakeholders and resources’ development.
Furthermore, the program provides support to men affected by GBV through emotional support sessions, one-on-one psychological aid and community outreach activities.
 
The project officer is expected to support the implementation of quality and impact of ABAAD different projects related to the Emergency Response Program and to ensure accurate and swift documentation and archiving.
 
Post holder reports to: Emergency Response Program Manager

Key responsabilites:
  • Responsible for the high quality implementation of the program
  • Contributes to planning and implementation of various activities as required by the program
  • Oversee the progress and development of the activities and ensure its high quality implementation according to plan
  • Conduct regular visits to  ABAAD Transition mid-way houses located in different regions to ensure proper follow-up on the implementation of projects
  • Effective and close collaboration and coordination with program’s team and other consultants as deemed necessary for the program;
  • Keeps thorough records, maintains a clear and organized filing system
  • Preparing all MoMs, memos, reports and drafting correspondences, project documents etc. according to oral/written instructions
  • Coordinate with ABAAD media & communication manager for coverage of program's events and follow up with relevant actors
  • Represent ABAAD in rotating seminars upon PM request
  • Assist in the logistics and preparations required for all events, trainings and activities
  • Collect bids and quotations and archive all bills and expenses
  • Ensure collection of information and documentation required for all accounting purposes
  • Assist in other ABAAD programs as deemed necessary
Key competencies:
  • University Degree (BA) in relevant field
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English are essential- French is a plus
  • Minimum five-years of field level and hands on experience specifically in tasks associated with program development and implementation
  • Experience in GBV programming, and demonstrated gender sensitivity
  • Practical experience with electronic communication systems (online websites and databases)
  • Experience of working in/with non-government organizations
  • Experience in organizing events such as press conferences, workshops and meetings
  • Strong inter-personal and team working skills including the ability to liaise and communicate with team members
  • Demonstrated capacity to take initiative and pay attention to details
  • Ability to plan workloads and demonstrate accountability for outputs
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Contract terms:

Immediate recruitment –  Duration: 1 year (renewable)
