Amel International Association address discrimination in the health sector || ِArticles || Newspapers (Arabic)

12-07-2012

Amel International Association in collaboration with CESTAS undertook an exploratory study on strengthening the role of women in the health sector in Lebanon.  282 assessment questionnaires were conducted on men and women working in the healthcare institutions in South Lebanon and Beirut. The results showed that women workers suffer from discrimination including unequal wages, verbal, sexual, and psychological abuse.  This discrimination is linked to the societal perception of women, the behavior and preconditioned judgments by patients, as well as the absence of a legal measures law defining the rights and responsibilities of women workers in the health industry.
