Carpet weaving for Syrian women refugees in Arsaal

15-5-2019

The Humanitarian and Development Attache at the UAE Embassy in Beirut concluded yesterday in Arsaal a training session on traditional carpet weaving, with the support of Sharjah Charity International, in cooperation with Dar Al Fatwa Relief and Humanitarian Aid Association. Around 40 Syrian women refugees participated in the 3-month workshop and received certificates of appreciation stating that they have successfully completed the course to develop their capacities and skills. On the occasion, the UAE Ambassador, Hamad Saeed Shamsi, stressed that women’s empowerment contributes to creating radical change to their conventional roles, especially that they have become essential partners in building societies.
