The René Moawad Foundation launches their joint project to improve women's livelihoods in North Lebanon

13-06-2013

The René Moawad Foundation launched its project to improve the livelihoods of women in North Lebanon.  The project is funded by the European Union and is implemented with Al Mada, Fair Trade, DOT Lebanon, and the NGO Committee to Follow-Up on Women's Issues.  The event was held at the Halba municipality with the attendance of members of NGO and cooperatives in addition to local women and community leaders.
The project aims at strengthening women's economic growth in North Lebanon through creating a collaboration network with many organisations as well as upgrading cooperatives and marketing in the region.  The project targets 500 women in 17 villages located in Akkar and Denneyeh and will be implemented in a number of stages.  Fourteen trainers have been deployed in six locations in order to carry out training in women's economic rights and information.  This will be followed by the setting up of 10 to 17 small projects.
