The Hult Prize Foundation organized its semi-final international competition launched for the first time in Lebanon at the start of the academic year in partnership with Banque du Liban, BLOM bank and UNIC. The initiative aims to challenge the youth to innovate and build enterprises that promote energy-powered development. Under the theme, ‘Harnessing the power of energy to transform the lives of 10 million people’, 6 student teams qualified for the final round, and they are: Pro Shielf and Yalla Bus (AUB), Bright Steps and Transformer (Beirut Arab University), and H2 (LAU) and Energy Saving Mode On (Rafik Hariri University). Entrants have received training for a period of six months, with 50 teams including 150 students being shortlisted for the semi-finals. The Nobel Prize winning Hult Prize foundation is the world’s greatest youth startup accelerator with a role to build, fund and train startups. (Al Mustaqbal, May 16, 2018)
