Third edition of WOFL in Amman

14-12-2018

May Chidiac Foundation (MCF) organized on Monday the third edition of Women on the Front Lines (WOFL)- MENA Chapter, Amman, with the participation of over 800 people. During the event, Chidiac pointed out that gender inequality is still dominant, as women remain a minority in leadership positions and at national policy making levels, noting the marginal female presence in Arab governments and legislatures. “It is time that gender equality become a cross cutting priority,” Chidiac stated. For her part, the representative of WOFL sponsor, the minister of state for media affairs, official spokesperson for Jordan, Joumana Ghoneimat, said her country has made progress in legislation to promote women’s access to decision making positions, adding that the problem rests in many challenges facing women’s lived reality. The conference, to note, included panel discussions with women pioneers who forged a radical change in various areas, notably politics, arts and media, business and economics, human rights and social development, who talked about their life changing experiences and accomplishments.
