Violence against women: suspect arrested in Bhamdun for wife killing, girl blackmailed in Baalbaq

The local media on Saturday brought up the news of the death of a Lebanese Customs officer, Rana Beiano, 30 years, after falling out of her husband’s car in Bhamdun. According to the husband, Rana, a mother of 3, fell out because she forgot to close the moving car’s door, which resulted in severe injuries in the head and died soon after her transfer to hospital. The victim’s father and brother, who were not convinced by the husband’s version of the incident, pressed charges against an unknown person. Noting, that there is a possibility of the husband’s involvement in Rana’s death based on reported differences between the couple. According to local newspapers, the husband was arrested after listening to his testimony. Meanwhile, the ISF Directorate General- Public Relations Division announced in a statement, that on 5/7/2019, the Anti-Cybercrime Bureau in the Judiciary Police Unit received a complaint submitted by a woman to the competent judiciary against an unknown person on charges of extortion, defamation and threat of publishing pictures on Facebook. The statement went on to say, that on 23/7/2019, the suspect, H.A (Lebanese, born in 1994) was spotted and seized in Baalbaq, and admitted, upon interrogation, what was attributed to him and was transferred to the competent judiciary.
