The Palestinian Women Forum in Lebanon, with the support of the EU, organized yesterday a seminar on the topic of women’s political participation and the ways in which it is linked to the process of democracy as well as to Resolution no. 1325. Ms. Lina Matar from the Lebanese Women's Committee highlighted the challenges facing full and active political participation of Lebanese and Palestinian women. Ms. Matar referred that the main obstacle facing women's active political participation is the sectarian system in Lebanon.
General Union of Palestinian Women made a specific reference to the forms of Palestinian women's Political participation. This participation comes exclusively within the framework of women's involvement in national activism.
