Accusatory decision in Chez Maurice sex trafficking ring

26-7-2019

The Investigative Judge of Mount Lebanon, Nadim Nashef, issued yesterday his accusatory decision in the case of Chez Maurice sex trafficking ring, noting that a number of suspects were seized back in February, 2016 (https://www.lkdg.org/ar/node/14941). The decision indicted the defendants: Susan A., Ahmad D., Mohamad A. H., Walid M. and accused Leila D, all Lebanese nationals, on charges of facilitating prostitution, securing occupancy of rooms for sex work at a number of touristic projects in the Shuf Coast area, and luring girls from Syria to employ them in prostitution. The Judge’s verdict considered the acts of the defendants a crime according to Article 586 of the Penal Code, combined with Articles 219 and 527. Based on this, the release on bail requests were revoked and the file was referred to the Criminal Court. Worth recalling, that the Chez Maurice and Sliver hotels sex trafficking case has become notorious after it was uncovered three years ago. Around 75 Syrian girls were involved. On the other hand, the ISF General Directorate – Public Relations Division, announced that on 13/07/2019, the Southern Investigation Unit in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit received information about a 23-year-old girl from Tyre, who has been blackmailed by R. M. (Lebanese, born 1987). The suspect, who has known the girl for 8 years when she was still 15, has threatened to publish videos and pictures of her. The girl reportedly endured the relationship for fear of scandal. (Al Mustaqbal, July 24, 25, 2019)
