MWDW: Body of Ethiopian woman discovered in Jbeil, another arrested in Saida

13-5-2019

Three weeks after transferring the body of an Ethiopian migrant domestic worker from inside her employer’s house in Byaqut-Metn (c.f: https://bit.ly/2V2qmH3), the Civil Defense General Directorate announced in a statement that, on May 12, that its squads moved the body of an Ehiopian MWDW from Jbeil, Byblos to the Government-run Bwar Hospital. Earlier, security forces arrived at the scene for investigation. This new incident raised the total number of killed MWDWs in Lebanon to 4 women since the start of this year. On the other hand, an Ethiopian MWDW killed her elderly semi-paralyzed employer inside her home in Hlaliyeh, Saida in the South. Al Mustaqbal website wrote that, for no clear motive, Gitench Tolori, Ethiopian MWDW, 33 years, killed N.H, 83 years, following a temper tantrum. The worker, at first, admitted the crime, but denied later that she was aware of what she did. Al Mustaqbal portal said that at an initial trial during which Tolori reiterated her statements, the Saida Criminal Court sentenced her to 15 years of hard labor. However, after the ruling was overturned by her attorney, the Criminal Court of Cassation decided to retry the convict stating that she was not responsible for a crime committed in a state of insanity and schizophrenia, and decided to put her in a custodian shelter pending her mental recovery.
