"Men Center" to stop violence against women

International Medical Corps and "Abaad" launched a national media campaign titled "We're ready to listen" with the support of the Arab Institute for equality and freedom. This campaign aims to stop violence against women by involving men in the equation through the creation of the "Men Center", which provides all forms of specialist support to ease the tension and address the factors that would make men lose control, as well as the opportunity to discover healthy alternatives manage their reactions.

Arab Women Spring website launched

Arab Women Spring website http://www.womenspring.org was launched yesterday during a press conference at the headquarters of the National Media Council where Abed Al-Hadi Mahfouz, Councils’ president, indicated the importance of this website for its contribution through media to create and profound a social awareness about women’s rights and the importance of their participation in the sectors that bring the country and the society to life.

Mahfouz also indicated to the low percentage 2.3% for the participation of women in the parliament and the non-existing participation in the government while women have a share of 3% in municipalities as well as the foreign services and the staff of the first degree and structures of public administration.

A national watch for children rights

Women and Child Comittee and human rights comittee held a joint meeting at the parlement headed by the president of the women comittee MP Gilbertte Zwein and the president of human rights comittee MP Michel Moussa, where they stated the importance to put solid procedures to stop sexual harrasment through creating a national watch for children rights aiming to deal with the daily violations against children and punishing whoever is responsible.

Lebanese women trapped in Gaza

Lebanese women living in Gaza suffer too much troubles visiting Lebanon due to complications in their official papers which makes it hard for them and their children to visit their families in Lebanon. These women do not appear in the official statistics of the ministry of interior due to the fact that they entered Gaza using a Palestinian traveling permit issued from Egypt after the Oslo agreement in 1994.

Maternity leave "ball" in the parliament court

Health, labor and social affairs parliamentary committee has declared yesterday extending the maternity leave from 7 to 20 weeks thus moving the draft law to the parliament general council that will hold a meeting in the end of this month.

Aude de Twain promotes her book "Women, if dared"

The Women Association held a meeting in Pine Palace where Aude de Twain promote her book "Women, if dared."  She spoke about her journey in business and defending women rights. Tawin also talked about her decision in launching a Women’s Center for Economics and Society in 2005 aiming at enforcing women visions in fundamental social and economic issues as well as strengthening women's partnership and work through projects in education, performance and equality
