Women Sector - Future Movement: Protecting women from violence || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

The women sector of political party, Future Movement’s held a preparation and empowerment committee entitled “Protecting Women from Family Violence” hosted by KAFA’s legal consultant, Laila Awada.  Discussions were focused on the law draft to protect women from violence and the role of KAFA in supporting all issues related to women and fighting all kinds of violence against women.

Swimming pools of "apartheid" || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

The Ministry of Tourism issued on 25 April 2012, a circulation directed to swimming pools and spa about the need to adhere to the procedures for public safety, and adoption of equal services to all customers with no discrimination in terms of race or nationality, and persons with special needs. Tourism police has already started to impose fines against resorts that refuse to comply with Circular, however 90% of swimming pools and spas still do not allow the entry of foreign workers.

St. George Club risk closure over racism || Articles || Newspapers

Beirut beach club St. George face closure after it was caught on camera for refusing entry to an Ethiopian woman.  The video was uploaded on Youtube by the Anti-Racism Movement and reported to the Tourism Police Hotline [1735]. Lebanon’s Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud states that discrimination is intolerable. (Daily Star)

A Palestinian organization for human rights Hoqouq premiered their documentary Behind Silence directed by Bechara Damouni.  The film focuses on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the violence they face.  The film showcases the efforts done to improve their situation and
The film was the highlight of the final gender program seminar Houquoq held.  The seminar was funded by the Gender Equality Support Funds of UN Women.

Charity lunch honoring Elderly Islamic Hospital

Recession impedes legal feminist movement in Lebanon

European Union organized in collaboration with a number of civil and women's associations in Lebanon, a workshop on «European Neighborhood Policy Plan between the EU and Lebanon on the support of women's rights», in which the following issues were highlighted:
- The women's movement: its efficiency, reality, and causes of its sectarian and vertical division
- Reform the legal recession on women's rights since independence
- Lebanon's double standards in dealing with agreements and treaties and decisions of international and regional de facto equality between men and women
- Relationship with the EU regulations and policies adopted in MENA countries

The election of Lebanese Nahla Haidar in New York CEDAW

The Lebanese candidate, Ms. Nahla Haidar, was elected as a member in the Committee of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, during the seventeenth Meeting of States Parties to the Convention which was held at UN headquarters in New York the day before yesterday.
