A ceremony for the nurses union || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

A ceremony was held honoring Helen Samaha Nowaihed who was elected as a member for the nursing union board. Nowaihed indicated the importance of registration in the union to protect the rights of nurses. She also stated that she will be working on a retirement fund for all nurses.

Delegation from the First Seminar on Women met Geagea || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

A delegation from the Editing Committee of the First Seminar on Women and Their Role Amid the Transformation Era, met with Samir Geagea, President of the Lebanese forces. The delegation demonstrated the center’s activities and its important role in Lebanon.  Declaring the law against VAW was highlighted during the discussions.

Amel International Association address discrimination in the health sector || ِArticles || Newspapers (Arabic)

Amel International Association in collaboration with CESTAS undertook an exploratory study on strengthening the role of women in the health sector in Lebanon.  282 assessment questionnaires were conducted on men and women working in the healthcare institutions in South Lebanon and Beirut. The results showed that women workers suffer from discrimination including unequal wages, verbal, sexual, and psychological abuse.  This discrimination is linked to the societal perception of women, the behavior and preconditioned judgments by patients, as well as the absence of a legal measures law defining the rights and responsibilities of women workers in the health industry.

Berri met with "Lekaa" delegation to discuss draft law to protect women from violence || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

Delegation from “Likaa” association met with Ms. Randa Berri to discuss the outputs of the conference on “Role of women amid transformation era”.
Establishing a follow-up committee was suggested, in addition to setting a future action plan. Drug addition, electoral law, VAW,  and family planning were among issues discussed.

Women protest against VAW || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

While parliamentarians in the mother and child subcommittee had their weekly session, dozens of women held a flashmob. This came as a protest to denounce the mutation of the final bill of the proposed law amendment.
According to the protestors their demands are
Full protection of women from domestic violence (as the committee would alter protection to all family members without being inclusive to women)
Criminalize marital rape, not only threats, beats and abuses.
Denounce article 26 of the law amendment proposal this article gives the ultimate power to religious courts to consider matters related to personal status code.

Non Governmental organizations abuse its employees’ rights || Articles || Newspapers (Arabic)

Obscure relations govern the dynamic between NGOs and their employees which would reach exploitation level. Activists of this sector voiced out the abusive practices among which are overlapping of benefits, unsettled work conditions, absence of social security, short term and instable funding as well as handling loads of work under the pretext of voluntarism.
