Key responsabilites:
  • Project Assistant will provide general administrative, communication and research support for project including:  
  • Organizing and maintaining project files and databases
  • Handling correspondence and follow-up with outside parties and stakeholders, including mailing, etc.
  • Supporting in organizing events, workshops and meetings
  • Supporting in producing a variety of documents, reports, and whenever applicable other promotional literature
  • Taking notes during working groups and meetings
  • Assisting with monitoring project budget and book keeping
  • Assisting in research and data entry
  • Performing other duties in support of project as required
Key competencies:
  • Candidates for this position are expected to have the following qualifications:
  • High School education or equivalent required, BA in a relevant field is preferable;
  • Minimum of four years office experience, with preference in subject matter and or development projects or within non-profit organizations and/or development organizations;
  • Good writing and verbal skills in Arabic and English. French is an asset. Preference for a previous experience in note taking during focus group discussions and workshops;
  • Good computer skills (including word processing (e.g. Word), spreadsheets (e.g. Excel), e-mail, and browsing the Web;
  • Good communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to travel from time to time to the field;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Positive attitude, integrity and sensitivity to social diversity.
Contract terms:

DURATION OF CONTRACT
Successful candidate is required to work up to 100 days and to start immediately. Schedule is flexible.

Description:

L'Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement (IECD) is a French development organization operating in the field of international solidarity. It has been operating in Lebanon since 1989. Today, IECD and its local partners implement several Training and Professional Integration, Support to Small Enterprises and Access to Education and Health Care projects.

Key responsabilites:
  • The adaptation and implementation of five Vocational Training (VT) programs which will facilitate the access of people with special needs (mental or physical disabilities as well as learning disabilities) to fields of specialization that are currently out of their reach.
  • The creation or adaptation of three protected workshops. Those workshops mainly aim to provide on-the-job training opportunities for particularly vulnerable unemployed young people. Depending on their needs, it can also provide a safe working place where some can find long-term employment.

His/her main tasks will consist in:

  • Coordinating the field surveys, the preparatory phase and the identification of the activities according to different criteria (feasibility, impact on the youth, long-term adaptability and, for the workshops, financial sustainability)
  • Implementing the adaptation of the VT/workshops taking into consideration the needs of the various beneficiaries. For the workshop: s/he will have to coordinate the assessment of the material needs, in terms of adapted venues and equipment, with the support of an occupational therapist.
  • Collaborating with the teachers in all the adaptation process and coordinating their training so they can acquire the teaching skills necessary to carry out the sessions
  • Carrying out the creation of manuals for all trainings and their various adaptations so they can be available in resource centers
  • Coordinating the follow-up of the implementation of the VT/workshop and the final evaluation of skills acquired by the trainers.

 
Most of the phases of these activities (adaptation, training of trainers, implementation and follow-up) will be executed through the collaboration of the partners mentioned above and the support of external expertise.

Key competencies:
  • Education: Graduate in Education, Project management or any related field with at least two years of experience
  • Experience: good knowledge of the Lebanese technical education system
  • Interests: Interest in vocational education, sensitive to the thematic of youth with learning disabilities
  • Skills and qualities expected:
  • Driving license mandatory
  • Very good interpersonal communication, good coordination skills in a multi-partenarial project
  • Autonomous, good organizational skills
  • Arabic and fluency in English and/or French
Contract terms:

Status: Local contract
Dates: 1st of February 2014, 23 months
Location: Saïda/Beyrouth
Under the supervision of: Head of Project based in Saïda
