Project Coordinator

Key responsabilites:

 

The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Director of KAFA to whom he/she will report. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of one or more of KAFA’s projects.  More particularly, the Project Coordinator will:

·        Oversee the implementation of the project's activities ensuring a standard of quality in all aspects of the projects.

·        Conduct and document regular team meetings for planning and reporting purposes;

·        Assist the Financial Team in project's budget;

·        To be the main contact person for all communication including the donors and local authorities and stakeholders

·        Prepare and send monthly project progress report and any report as requested;

·        Establish Monitoring and evaluation indicators where needed in light of the objectives and expected results of the project

·        Develop materials and conduct awareness raising sessions and assist in arranging for training sessions as needed

·        Conduct assessments on the needs of target groups and write reports about their situations

·        Ensure timely delivery of all project outputs as required;

·        Form a strong collaboration with the partner organizations  / persons.

·        Perform other duties as maybe assigned by KAFA's director;

·        Identify new opportunities in terms of advocacy, actions, and funds

·        Perform other duties as may be assigned by KAFA’s director

 

Key competencies:

 

Required Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s Degree in any of the social studies such as Sociology; Anthropology, Social Work or other related studies

·        At least 3 years’ experience in project management.


Required Competencies and skills

·        Proficiency in written and spoken English.

·        Proven excellent analytical and organizational skills.

·        Excellent report writing and documentation skills.

·        Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.

·   Good interpersonal skills including good coordination and effective working relations with stakeholders.

·        Ability to lead teams and mentor staff.

·        Experience with vulnerable populations, including immigrant and refugee populations and SGBV survivors.

·        Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.

·        Experience working with refugee populations in emergency response context a plus.

·        Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.

·        Excellent planning and time management skills.

·        Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Key responsabilites:

 

 1. Acts as the Leader of the SOS Children’s Village

a)  Maintains the SOS philosophy and ensures that all staff are familiar with the history, philosophy, principles and policies of SOS.

b)  Ensures that the SOS Children’s Village operates in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Association and SOS-Kinderdorf International.

c)  Holds regular meetings with all staff to discuss current activities, problems, concerns, and new ideas, in order to ensure open communication and cooperation.

d)  Involves SOS Mothers, Youth Leaders and Project Representatives in the decision making process.

e)  Acts as overall administrative head of all projects in the Village, overseeing all their activities including construction, finances, sponsorship, child admissions, maintenance and personnel administration.

2. Acts as ‘Father’ to the Children

a)  Ensures the health, welfare and development of all children, serving as a role model and playing an active part in their lives.

b)  Promotes and supports family relationships by spending quality time with individual children and their families.

c)  Provides compassionate discipline and counsel to children whenever necessary. Provides advice, guidance and support to children on personal and social issues.

3. Provides Support and Guidance to the SOS Mothers

a)  Creates a secure, positive and motivating environment for SOS mothers, in order to encourage their long-term commitment to the children.

b)  Holds regular meetings with SOS Mothers to discuss new ideas, problems and concerns, and to promote open communication and cooperation.

c)  Spends quality time with individual Mothers, acting as their friend, supporter, counsellor and confidant. Supports Mothers with day-to-day challenges such as child discipline.

d)  Encourages recreational and sporting activities for Mothers to promote their health, confidence and motivation.

4. Guides the Educational Development of the Children

a)  Ensures that the educational needs and abilities of each child are addressed through continuous monitoring and reviewing of each child’s progress.

b)  Works in cooperation with pedagogical staff to plan educational programmes geared to the individual needs of each child. Conducts regular reviews of such programmes.

c)  Creates a stimulating learning environment in which academic progress is encouraged through the provision of guided homework sessions, remedial classes etc.

d)  Prepares holiday programmes ensuring that sufficient educational and recreational activities are offered to the children to prevent boredom and monotony.

e)  Arranges cultural activities to educate the children in local culture and custom.

5. Builds a Committed and Effective Staff Team

a)  Oversees the selection, training, appraisal and development of staff, to ensure that only the best staff are employed, and that they are developed to reach their full potential.

b)  Provides advice, guidance, support and leadership to all Village staff, motivating them to work as a ‘family’ in pursuit of the best interests of the children.

c)  Ensures comprehensive communication to all Village staff.

d)  Upholds the rights and responsibilities of each staff member, ensuring that a positive degree of discipline is maintained, and that a healthy relationship exists at all times between SOS staff and children.

e)  Gives an example of integrity and lives the SOS values.

6. Develops Good Relations with Sponsors and the Community

a)  Assists in public relations activities from time-to-time, as directed by the National Coordinator, to further the ideals and reputation of SOS.

b)  Provides a link with schools, community groups, civic associations, service groups, and other community based bodies and organisations.

c)  Maintains good relationships with local and international sponsors through ensuring prompt correspondence and providing regular updates on child progress.

7. General

a)    Protects the children in our care from all forms of physical or mental violence, injury or abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, maltreatment or exploitation, including sexual abuse.

b)    Handles all SOS property appropriately, including the financial resources of the organisation.
 

Key competencies:

Submission guidelines: The primary role of the Village Director is to be ‘father’ to each SOS child and family. As ‘father’ he takes an active part in the growth and development of each child, ensuring their physical, emotional, social and spiritual welfare. In addition, he supports the Mothers and other staff in working towards the best interests of the child.

Duties: The following duties are requested from the position holder:

-  Plan and coordinate the weekly and daily programs for the shelter’s residents  (awareness sessions, group therapy, and capacity building and life skills sessions);

-  Conduct life skills and socio-educational programs for the residents of the shelter (indoors and outdoors);

-  Engage and follow up the residents’ indoor and outdoor educational activities and accompany residents on individual visits outside the shelter when needed;

-  Facilitate communication and coordination between residents and manage tensions or conflicts if any;

-  Present a consistent, positive and appropriate role model for the residents of the shelter;

-  Achieve the program’s desired outcomes as put by the Kafa management;

Under the supervision of youth in conflict Programme Coordinator, the Community Centre Organizeris responsible for overall facilitation and implementation of activities and plans of the community centre in Baalbek.

 

Key responsabilites:

 - SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

In accordance with AA ARI's Office policy and procedures, the incumbent:

•  Guide youth to design a friendly space on a focused objectives and interventions.

•  Assist youth to assess needs in their area, analyses these assessments, and map out services /critical issues, conflict type if existed.( related to the community center).

•  Support youth to access public services and enhance their skills so they can engage in a proactive dialogue with official members.

•  Support and guide youth in designing a strategy to operate these center on a sustainable way.

•  Support and guide youth in the implementation of their initiatives.

•  Individual and group coaching to empower youth about social cohesion/protection, HRBA, etc..

•  Supporting youth in identifying their capacity building\ trainings needs.

•  Provide technical assistance and  guidance to integrate HRBA in their work.

• Support youth in trainings related to fundraising, proposal development, long-tern planning...etc

• Share information and support them in transfer knowledge in between them and other parties in their community.

•  Encourage youth to become involved in planning.

•  Supporting youth in linking with Local authorities, stakeholders and duty bearers .

•  Developing and applying a transparency and accountability mechanism.

•  Supporting youth in maintaining the sustainability of the center.

•  Coordinate regular meetings with youth and partners from different cities to exchange experience and share any updates about the current activities, plans or any others issues.

•  Improve communication and share information to ensure that youth are aware of international and national opportunities.

•  Support  communication department with success stories.

•  Submit monthly plans and reports to community coordinator

•  Coordinate with admin and finance and follow AA financial guidelines

•  Performs any other duties as may be assigned.


In case of partner-ship with Local organisations:

•  Jointly implementation of activities with partner

•  Empower partners to design, monitor/evaluate and implement programmes on a participatory methodologies leaded by youth.

•  Train and support partners to improve change in their communities.

•  Supervise/ follow up the implementation of the programmes and provide partners with needed guidance to strengthen the long-term development.

•  Follow up on the financial and activities reports.

•  Support partner in developing and applying a transparency mechanism

•  Supervise administrative routines(purchase orders, quality, timing, budget, accounts, etc..).

•  Link partners with AA head of administration.

 

Key competencies:

- INDEPENDENCE OF WORK:

Work is reviewed by supervisor to ensure the attainment of objectives and adherence to ActionAid rules and regulations and personal norms.

- RECRUITMENT CRITERIA:

 A.   Academic and professional qualifications:
Diploma in Social studies, Phycology or any other related field. Bachelor Degree is an asset in the same Fields.

B.   Experience:
A minimum of 3 years' experience in NGO or I/NGO field, assisting in development projects related to one or more of Programme cores (Youth programmes, Women Programmes, Community and Civil Society Development, coaching and Experience of supporting and working with young people and an Under standing of the factors affecting their lives.

C.   Language:
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

D.   Competencies:

“Stories Talk”: A film making project by a group of women

Babel Theater invites you to view a series of short documentaries produced through a workshop entitled “stories talk”.

Stories Talk is a project produced and managed by 612 Ideas Factory and Danish Kontact Institutions. It seeks to teach a group of Arab women through personal story telling in a movie the skills of self-expression as well as sharing various stories of women at a regional and international level. The project develops a methodology for telling personal stories with as little equipments as possible (such as with an IPhone) but in a professional manner.
